Points for Letter Writing

You might like to use some of the points as inspiration for your letter writing.  Physical and email addresses can be found at the bottom of the page.

Please remember to be respectful in any correspondence.

Points for letters to Council:

  • What part of the community consultation policy was undertaken by Council on the development for the Kangaroo Bay?

  • Was Council aware the developers of the site purchased a house for $1,066,088 in York Street, Bellerive for Chambroad Petrochemical's project manager (Finley Zhang) in August 2016 (well ahead of Chambroad Petrochemical's development application and Council's decision to approve the development in January 2017)?

  • Is it appropriate for a development that requires 191 car parking spaces to only provide 61 car parking spaces (a shortfall of 130 spaces)?

  • Why did Council generously reduce the shortfall number to 84 car parking spaces?

  • The developers are being charged $10,000 per car parking space shortfall whereas it is going to cost Council (ie. ratepayers) $15,000 to provide each car parking space.  Should ratepayers be footing the difference?

  • What is Council's long term plan for traffic and parking on the Kangaroo Bay foreshore?

  • Should Crown Land on the Kangaroo Bay foreshore be provided for a foreign company to develop a private business?

  • Do you agree further land in Kangaroo Bay be made available to the same developer as the Hotel and Hospitality Training School & Apartments?

  • Are you be in favour of locals losing their yacht moorings to facilitate the implementation of a ferry service for the Hotel in Kangaroo Bay?

  • Do you consider there is enough public parking along Kangaroo Bay Drive to have a ferry service to the Hotel?

  • Is Council willing to disclose how its $7.8 million budget for Kangaroo Bay will be spent?

Points for letters to State Government:

  • Why is the State Government making Crown Land (public land) available for a foreign developer to profit from?

  • Can you confirm the price the developer paid for the land?

  • Were you aware the developers of the site purchased a $1,066,088 house in York Street, Bellerive for Chambroad Petrochemical's project manager (Finley Zhang) in August 2016 (well ahead of Chambroad Petrochemical's development application and Council's decision to approve the development in January 2017)?

  • Will TasTAFE operate the hospitality training school or will it be privately run?

  • Will the hospitality training school be open to local students?
